There are nearly 200 general-purpose classrooms
at UNT. Each is equipped with a data
projector, computer, VCR, overhead projector, and connections for an auxiliary
computer or video source. Each classroom’s equipment is operated in the
same manner.
Learning to Use Classroom Equipment:
- "Hands on" -- go to a classroom and try it out
- Learn from another instructor
- Browse through www.css.unt.edu
-- check out "CSS Equipment
Info"
- Schedule an individual or group session with CSS
(565-2691) in the classroom of
your choice
Selecting a Source To Display:
- To select the display source for the
projector, use the "remote" program on the installed computer's
desktop. Click on "Computer," "VCR,"
"Computer 2," or "Video 2".
Using a Notebook Computer:
- If you plan to connect your notebook computer to the Internet from a classroom, plan
ahead. Some of the necessary setup steps could take several days to complete:
- You will need a data cable, which is available from Data Communications.
- Your notebook computer must be set up to access the Internet from the building where you
will be using it. Contact your college/school computer support personnel for
assistance.
- Video (and audio) cables for your notebook computer are available from CSS
at no charge.
- Be sure to know how to activate the notebook computer's external monitor.
Adaptive Technology:
- Classrooms are equipped with closed-caption
decoders for the VCR. A videocassette must be encoded for closed
captioning for the words to appear.
- Assistive listening systems are installed in the largest classrooms. Receivers can be
checked out from the Information Desk on the Union's third floor.
- Other adaptive equipment or services may be
available. Please call the Office of
Disability Accommodation for assistance.
Technical Assistance:
- CSS assistance is readily available during
most classes, including night classes. In emergencies, we can frequently help over the
phone.
- Please request any needed equipment at least 24 hours in advance. If equipment or
services are needed for a Friday night or weekend, 7 days' notice is required.
Classroom Maintenance:
- If there is a problem with classroom furniture (desks, table, podium),
please report to Facilities (565-2700).
- If you see something else that needs attention (lights out, too hot, etc.),
please let us know and we'll
report it to the proper department.
